LMU4 (LOCOMOTIVE MONITORING UNIT)
Introducing the next generation of locomotive management technology, the Locomotive Monitoring Unit (LMU4). Designed with the modern short line rail operators in mind, the LMU4 brings together cutting edge hardware and software to deliver a seamless and efficient fleet management experience. With its advanced GPS technology, the LMU4 provides real-time train tracking and monitoring, ensuring maximum visibility and control for railway operators. The system’s intuitive interface allows for easy and efficient viewing of report data from the built-in analog and digital channels, as well as the optional external wireless sensors.
IDLE/REPORTING REDUCTION
3C Telemetry provides you with all the tools necessary to collect Realtime Data for today and historical data for tomorrow.
Fuel consumption is a critical concern in the rail industry, accounting for a substantial portion of operational costs. Locomotives have a significant appetite for fuel, with consumption rates ranging from 3-5 gallons per hour while idling to nearly 200 gallons per hour for larger locomotive engine sizes at higher-notch settings. A rough diesel price of $4 per gallon can cost a locomotive over $800 in fuel per hour of operation.
Across a fleet of a dozen or hundreds of locomotives, this could mean substantial savings in fuel used annually which means making even minor efficiency improvements can significantly impact the overall profitability of a railway and its ability to reach its sustainability target.

ONBOARD HOT BEARING DETECTION AND ONBOARD FLAT WHEEL DETECTION
Hot bearing Detectors (HBD) are used to measure the temperature of the bearings of a locomotive or a railcar axle thanks to 3C Telemetry's technology. The HBD detects the presence of an overheated wheel bearing and alerts the train crew. A hot bearing can lead to fractures of axle journals that might cause a derailment. With over 1600 derailments per year in North America alone, Hot Bearings are one of the main causes, and can lead to other very dangerous situations as well as significant wear and tear. Reducing HBD events decrease faults and help ensure a safe railway operation. 3C Telemetry LLC is a leader with ONBOARD monitoring for HBD's for locomotives and railcars alike.
